Amateur Showdown

Last fall, the Ultimate Lindyhop Showdown moved to New Orleans, but the Amateur Showdown stayed in the Midwest. Amateur Showdown at Midwest Lindyfest is only place to compete for passes to ULHS 2009! We invite all the aspiring lindy hoppers across the country to come compete for passes to ULHS 2009 and the winner-take-all cash prize. 2nd and 3rd places win passes to national events.

Contest Format

You will dance and be judged by nationally acclaimed dancers with Spotlight finals just like ULHS. Only weekend pass holders for MWLF are eligible to enter. Winning 1st place at a national lindy hop event* prior to April 1st, 2010 disqualifies competitors from the Amateur Lindy Hop Showdown.

Music

Compete to various tempos of recorded music for prelims. Prelims will be held before the dance starts Saturday. Live Band music for finals during Saturday night's dance.

Cost

The Amateur Showdown is $20 per couple.

Jack and Jill

Separate from the Amateur Showdown, MWLF is also hosting a traditional Jack and Jill. Preliminary heats will change partners for each song, likely three times per heat. The final round will be three to five couples as paired by the judges.

The Jack and Jill is $10 per entrant.

Judging

Mike Faltesek is the Contest Coordinator. Final judges will be announced at the event.
